UKT: Burmese-Myanmar sorely needs a dedicated grapheme to represent the sound /ʃ/ a true hissing fricative. We also note that the modern Myanmar population is familiar with the English <s>, and its digraph <sh> as in the English word <ship> /ʃɪp/. Thus, I am proposing that we adopt a grapheme with the sound closest to <sh> /ʃ/. Since the closest in Burmese-Myanmar is
{sa.}/{Sa.}, we should modify it to represent <sh> /ʃ/.
The{sa.}/{Sa.} is the dental fricative sibilant, found as the onset of Burmese-Myanmar syllables such as
{sic} /sɪʔ/. However, since it already has a glottal element, the {ha.hto:} cannot be applied to it in regular Burmese. This restriction by the Burmese-Myanmar phonotactics should be removed in transliteration-cum-transcription of English (Sanskrit and other Indo-European languages) into Burmese-Myanmar and use
. However, we must not forget a restriction applicable to the akshara-conjunct or a medial such as
{sha.}, that though a medial is in every aspect is the same as a basic consonant, its vowel may not be killed. Because of this the grapheme
{sha.} is modified to
{Sha.} .
Even after solving the problem of the grapheme, we still would need to choose a vowel for Romabama - {a} or {i} ? Since in Burmese-Myanmar, Ashvini is{a.þa.wa.ni} (MED597), I propose that for the time being {a} is to be chosen.
At this stage, I am still not satisfied my proposal. And I hope, by going through the entries and the next, we will come up with the least unsatisfactory solution. -- UKT 100309UKT: The antonym of अशुभ presumably is शुभ 'auspicious' which is:
