Romabama has its beginnings in
In his pre-teens
years he tried to write the Burmese language on his
father U Tun Pe's English typewriter. However,
Romabama was launched only in the late 1990s on
the Internet from Canada.
UKT: I was going to use
http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/macdonell
(Mac-Chicago) as my primary source. However
there were serious drawbacks:
1. some pages seemed to be
missing. These I have marked with ¤.
However, I later found that the contents
of these pages had been lumped into the
page immediately preceding them. For
example, p010 and p011 were missing
but their contents were in p009.
2. there seemed to be no
order of entries. Thus, I have to use
the scanned pages from
http://www.sanskrit-lexicon.uni-koeln.de/scans/MDScan/index.php?sfx=jpg
as my primary source.
3. the transliterations, the
so-called HTML and simple ASCII, given were
very misleading. I feel the need to change
simple ASCII to IAST which would be time
consuming but very educating.
However, I sincerely thank
Mac-Chicago, for the help I am getting
with my Devanagari spelling, without which
I would not be able to decipher the Skt-Dev
entries of the scanned pages.

If you are a Bur-Myan speaker, you probably would expect the emphatic
{a:}/{aa:}.
Please remind yourself that this is a Sanskrit dictionary, and that Skt-Dev has
only short-vowel
{a.}/{aa.}, and long-vowel
{a}/{aa}. Skt-Dev is an Indo-European (IE) language with only short and long
vowels. It is only in Bur-Myan - a Tibeto-Burman (Tib-Bur) - that you will find
three registers: the creak
{a.}, the modal
{a}, and the emphatic
{a:}. The
creak has another form 
{aa.}.

A Practical Sanskrit Dictionary by A. A. Macdonell, 1929, (MacChicago), http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/macdonell/ downloaded 110416 , 110611, was in both Devanagari and in simple ASCII. Not all pages were available. Yet, I had tried to use it as my original source.
You can search the entries if you know the Devanagari spelling. The "HTML" transliterations given were very misleading, so unless you knew the Devanagari spelling, these pages were almost useless (at least to me). Fortunately, the website also gives the "simple ASCII" transcription, which does not give the usual diacritics. From them you can guess the pronunciation which is of course useful in comparing to the Pal-Myan (Pali-Myanmar) entries in U Hoke Sein Pali-Myanmar dictionary. If you were a native born Bur-Myan (Burmese-Myanmar) speaker-writer, you can know the pronunciation.
I have downloaded the scanned pages from

110612. They show that there were three
columns on each page in the original ink-on-paper book of Macdonell.

Unless the Univ. of Chicago digitizer(s) had gone through the original ink-on-paper dictionary line by line and entry by entry, there were bound to be mix up of entries between proximate digitized pages in http://dsal.uchicago.edu/dictionaries/macdonell/. It is obvious that they haven't done so, resulting in mix ups in all the Chicago pages, and aksharas.
Because of the reasons above, I am using the Mac-Cologne scanned pages as my primary source.
