n. timely charity expressed through five modes:
1. āgantuka-dāna -- charitable acts toward guests
2. gamika-dāna -- acts of charity toward intinerants
3. gilāna-dāna -- charity for the ill or injured
4. dubbhikha-dāna -- charity for the famine striken
5. sīlavantana-vaphala-dāna -- partaking of the first crops from one's fields or orchards only after offering the first crops to virtuous persons.
